Recommended Equipment For Your Home Gym
Level One: Starting Your Fitness Journey at Home
Whether you’re just beginning your fitness journey, looking to train at home on a budget, or need a simple gym set up that you can travel with, this level one setup has you covered. Most of this equipment can be found here with a few exceptions that I’ve noted below.
- TRX
A suspension trainer is perfect for hundreds of high-quality movements, including stretching. It’s even great for pull-ups when traveling. I use this suspension trainer because it’s lightweight and easy to travel with. - Monster Mini Bands
These are versatile, cost-effective, and offer endless exercise options. Note this is different than just having the tubing set below. - Exercise Ball
Add diversity to your movements and use it as a makeshift bench. - Tubing Set
Provides a variety of resistance levels without the need for a full dumbbell rack. - Kettlebells
In my videos, I demonstrate fantastic workouts using just a couple of kettlebells.- Women new to weights: 10 and 18 pounds.
- Men new to weights: 18 and 26 pounds.
- Yoga Mat
Essential for floor work and comfort during workouts. - Mace & Steel Club
I use these ones from ONNIT.
Level Two: Expanding Your Home Gym
If you’re ready to add more diversity without taking up much space, here’s your next step:
- Push-Up Bars
Great for push-ups, back dips, and ab work. - Pull-Up Bar

Similar to the TRX but with a better feel for your hands. - Kettlebells
Expand your set to four bells:- Women: 10, 18, 26, and 34 pounds.
- Men: 18, 26, 34, and 45 pounds.
- Ab Wheel
A classic for abs, lats, and upper body work. - Medicine Ball
If you pick just one, go with a 10-pounder. - Dumbbells
A rack ranging from 5 to 40 pounds is a great foundation. - Landmine
One of the most powerful and versatile tools. - Bosu Ball
Perfect for ab work, balance, and rehab exercises.
Level Three: Building a Serious Home Gym
Ready to take your strength to the next level? This setup is for those who plan to train exclusively at home.
